Our Management Team
Nick leads the Content teams in Boston, London, Frankfurt and Mumbai responsible for our global retail insight, delivered through the Planet Retail and RNG portals. This includes the creation of thought-provoking research and original forecasts of the retail landscape ahead. Nick and the team also work with clients to deliver bespoke Advisory projects and speaking engagements, and in the past year Nick has presented at the World Retail Congress in Rome as well as to senior audiences in New York, Barcelona and Geneva. Nick has over 20 years’ experience in retail, insight and analysis, and joined Planet Retail in May 2015. He previously spent over 11 years at IGD, where he was Director of Retail Insight and before that worked for Tesco, Safeway and Management Horizons Europe, in a variety of roles including store location planning and buying. Nick holds a first class degree in Geography from the University of Manchester.
Boris Planer is the Chief Economist based in Frankfurt. Boris specialises in macroeconomics and market trends, and is a regular speaker at retail events, usually with a focus on retail modernisation and investment opportunities in emerging markets. Before he became a Research Director, prior to his appointment as Chief Economist, Boris analysed Central & Eastern European markets for six years. Today, his research focus has broadened to include Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, Emerging Asia and Latin America. He began building Planet Retail's macroeconomic database in 2002 and has expanded its coverage ever since. Boris has worked as a Retail Analyst since 1999.
Robert Gregory is the Global Research Director and heads up Planet Retail’s Research Team from London. Robert has over a decade’s experience in analysing research trends and is an expert on global trends and the changing retail landscape. He is a regular contributor to a number of publications around the world and speaks at global industry events.
Miya has over 15 years' experience as an analyst, journalist and editor specialising in enterprise technology use in retail. She has spent this time reporting on the demands and challenges faced by retailers and which technologies can best support their needs in addressing ever-more complex consumer expectations and behaviours. She also brings comprehensive knowledge and understanding of vendor market trends. Prior to joining Planet Retail, Miya was a Senior Research Analyst with IDC Retail Insights, having edited Retail Technology magazine for 10 years.
Natalie Berg is responsible for driving Planet Retail’s strategic insights. She has over a decade’s experience providing analysis and opinion on the world’s largest retailers with a particular focus on supermarkets, discounting and online retail. She is a regular TV and radio commentator for UK retail news with appearances on the BBC, Sky, CNBC and Bloomberg. Natalie has published work on key industry topics such as the rise of click & collect and private label trends, and her first book Walmart: Key Insights and Practical Lessons from the World’s Largest Retailer was published in 2012 to coincide with the company's 50th anniversary. She holds a Bachelor of Science in International Business from the University of Connecticut and also studied at Ecole Supérieure de Commerce in Grenoble, France.
Hollie leads the global marketing programmes for Planet Retail, Shopology and Retail Net Group. She is responsible for defining and communicating the business’ value proposition and sharing targeted, strategic content to our audience. Hollie is passionate about serving our 300+ clients across the global FMCG, retail, technology and professional services sectors.
